Fans often forget that the original killer of the first Friday the 13th movie back in 1980 was Jason’s mother, Mrs. Voorhies (played by actress Betsy Palmer). In the first film, Jason was only a boy seen in flashbacks and in Alice’s “dream” towards the end. He made his official appearance as an adult in the sequel where he murders a new camp of teenagers at Crystal Lake about two months after the original murder spree by his mother. The movie continued the financial success of the franchise which produced a total of 12 movies being released between 1980 and 2009.
